![]() Emily has recently been cast in a production of George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession. In this classic and controversial play from the turn of the 20th century, Vive, a young, highly educated, and self-serious woman, is visited by her mother, with whom she has a strained relationship. Over the course of the visit, her mother, Mrs. Warren, attempts to explain her behavior during Vive's childhood, particularly her involvement in prostitution, in order to cultivate a better relationship. Meanwhile, Vivie struggles to reconcile the new revelations about her mother, her intense dislike of her mother's friends and associates, her relationship with a young suitor, and her own career. Emily will be portraying Vivie in the Douglas Morrisson Theatre's production of the play, directed by Susan Evans. Having never performed Shaw before, Emily is extremely ecstatic to have the chance to work on such a seminal play that was so forward thinking for its time. Tickets for the performances (in February and March of 2016) are available at the website for the Douglas Morrisson Theatre, which is located in Hayward, California in the East Bay.
