It has been a long time since I have been able to perform due to the pandemic, but even longer since I've performed in a play. Theatre was my first love (even before John D. in sixth grade), but for the last few years, I have happened upon more film opportunities - and somehow, without noticing, five years have passed since the last time I was in a play. So when I say I'm incredibly excited to return to the stage, you have to know that I mean it with EVERY fiber of my being!
I have been cast in the Southbank Theatre production of Nina Raine's Rabbit in Indianapolis! I'm playing Bella, a woman who is using her 29th birthday party as a distraction from the fact that her father is dying. She's messy and insecure and funny and deep and difficult, so we have a lot in common. I first read Rabbit when I was about 19, and I was so drawn into its complex discussions about feminism and love, all with sharp humor and deep grief as its constant backdrop. I bought a copy and kept it for ten years, knowing that it would be a great show for me one day. Over those years, as I've experienced love and loss and my own dad's death, it's only become more relevant to me. And now, at 29, Bella's age, I get the chance to play the lead, alongside the most talented people I've ever met. This is THE ACTUAL DREAM.
Rabbit runs for two weeks at the Storefront Theatre in Indianapolis, beginning December 2, 2021. Don't forget your proof of vaccination if you come! It's a really meaningful one for me, and I would love to see you there. Click here to buy tickets!
