Rabbit by Nina Raine

After a hectic holiday season, I finally get to sit down and let you know about our amazing run of Rabbit by Nina Raine!

Rabbit ran at the beginning of December, and we had the absolute best time! Playing Bella in Rabbit was a dream that I never thought to ask for, because I never expected I'd get the chance to play such a multi-faceted, difficult woman, a true lead role that fully runs the gamut of emotion.

I especially didn't think to ask for a role so suited to me specifically, a character whose father is dying (mine died a few years ago), who is both openly feminist and deeply suspicious of her own talent and abilities (guilty), and who can't seem to accept love (I know, I know, but isn't that all of us?).

Now that I have experienced it, I can say this: it is deeply exhausting to excavate the deepest parts of yourself every night, but also deeply fulfilling and validating. Almost every performance, someone reached out to me to let me know how much my performance affected them, or how much they related to Bella. And as someone who relates to Bella on a level that feels eerie, I can't tell you how un-alone that made me feel.

I also got to do so many things I had never done before! I have never had a solo closing bow before this show, so that was a huge moment! I had never performed in Indianapolis, though growing up in Shelbyville I always dreamed of it. And THE Nina Raine herself sent us a video message on our last performance to send us well wishes! I could not have asked for a better entry to Indianapolis theatre, and I can't wait to keep going from here.
